Assistant Financial Controller

This is a mid level accounting role with the potential to develop into a C level position. Only those who are fully designated as a Chartered Accountant will be considered for this role.Preference for those with automotive dealership accounting experience, but this is not required.The Assistant Controller will perform some of the day to day functions of the accounting department. You will also, when required, oversee and review the work of accounting and administrative staff. Decisions impacting the finances of the company, including cash management and financial statement entries, will be discussed and approved by one or both of the CFO or Dealer Principal. Your work should demonstrate accuracy and a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting practices. Outcomes of this role include: Daily bank reconciliation and cash control reporting Monitor cash and credit card clearing accounts Review GL accounts and key schedules to ensure they are clean and up to date Payroll utilizing third party system All government remittances and filings (state, payroll and income taxes, HST) Oversee posted entries of AR/AP clerks Review capped wholesale deals and close and balance retail deals Monthly reconciliations of accounts for financial statement closing: GL adjusting entries, bank, floor plan It is an important part of your role to protect the assets and resources of the company, and to utilize your experience and insights to continually seek to improve the profitability and efficiency of the company. As such, your input in these areas will be requested so that the company benefits from your perspective.
