Associate Director, Data & Analytics About Sandy Hook Promise Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to end school shootings, and create a culture change that prevents violence and other harmful acts that hurt children. Through its life-saving evidence-informed Know the Signs prevention programs, SHP educates and empowers youth and adults to recognize, intervene, and get help for individuals who may be socially isolated and/or at risk of hurting themselves or others. SHP is a moderate, bipartisan organization that supports sensible policy solutions that address the human side of gun violence and make schools safer. Position Summary The Associate Director of Data Analytics is to provide data modeling/analysis services, including the development of business intelligence dashboards, for the purpose of mining enterprise applications for information that enhances business processes. This individual is also responsible for assisting in building, deploying, and maintaining data support tools to effectively manage the data environment and improve data hygiene. This role will report to the Director, Data & Analytics. Job Responsibilities Strategy & Planning Devise, develop, and deploy required data dashboards, reports, and queries in response to business user needs. In conjunction with data owners and department managers, develop data models and protocols for mining production databases. Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures. Identify research questions, problem solve using data analysis, and communicate the results to various stakeholders. Develop effective processes to proactively monitor and improve data quality. Operational Management Work with application development staff to coordinate the creation and management of data queries. Collaborate with unit managers, end users, development staff, and other stakeholders to integrate data management applications with existing systems. Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organization. Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data models. Create data definitions for new database file/table development and/or changes to existing ones. Determine required environment components to ensure data access, as well as data consistency and integrity. Develop routines for end users to facilitate best-practice use of data management tools. Collaborate with database and disaster recovery administrators to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets. Monitor data management system details within the database, including data pipelines and stored procedures, and implementation efficiency improvements. Performs other duties as required. Qualification s College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or statistics, and/or 7+ years of equivalent work experience. Certifications in Tableau or Microsoft PowerBI. Accuracy and attention to detail Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to executives and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work with various data visualization tools and choose the best tool for the job. Understanding data warehousing and how data is stored and moved within a database is a big plus but optional. Strong understanding of data models, structures, theories, principles, and practices. Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting. Direct experience with data management techniques. Project management experience. Involvement in inter-departmental projects and experience communicating with various stakeholders. Benefits and Salary Range The salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000. ( SHP follows a strict internal rubric to help guide salary placement and ensure equitable pay amongst new hires and current staff.
