This is an in-person position in Van Nuys, California - No relocation package available. The Software Engineer is responsible for the design and development of software/firmware for Louroe Electronics line of IP-enabled audio streaming devices. The Firmware Engineer's job duties include; designing, developing, debugging, and maintenance of the device firmware as well as integrating the devices into third-party solutions using API's, SDK's, and other software tools.Performance Area & Responsibility Analyze business requirements. * Translate business requirements into technical designs.* Determines operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; and evaluating output requirements and formats.* Design new software/configurations by analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; and writing specifications.* Improves systems by studying current practices; designing modifications Development and Testing Full lifecycle application development. * Designing, coding, and debugging applications in various software languages.* Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, softwarereview, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, and software reliability analysis.* Object-oriented Design and Analysis. * Software modeling and simulation.* Front-end graphical user interface design.* Software testing and quality assurance.* Integrate software with existing systems. Core Competencies: Programming in an embedded Linux environment; using C, C++, Java, Python etc. Extensive experience working with ARM microprocessors. Designed, developed, and maintained firmware code for streaming devices in the security and/or audio/video industry. Familiarity with programming devices compliant with OnVif protocols and API's. Working knowledge of real-time audio/video streaming protocols; HTTP and RTP, compression algorithms as well as industry-standard protocols viz. Onvif. Working with third-party API's, SDK's, and misc. software tools. SSH, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, RTP/TCP, RTP/UDP, RTP/RTSP/TCP, RTP/RTSP/HTTP/TCP, RTCP, SOAP, SIP, WS, WSDL, JSON, Git, REST, XML, Val grind, Express, Node, Bash, C, C++, JavaScript, Python, Linux, DHCP, DHCPCD, IPv4LL, Avahi, GCC/G++, PKG-CONFIG, Sockets, MD5, SHA-256, Raspberry pi (boot config), NTP, TLS, Pulse Audio, AAC, TeamViewer WS-Base Notification, WS-Pull Point Gstreamer -> ( pipeline construction with all use cases i.e pulsesrc ! audio convert ! audio resample ! mulawenc ! rtph264pay) H264 knowing what all of this is ->(CABAC, Baseline Profile, AVC vs Byte-stream, nal vs au, GOV, level, formats i.e. I420 vs Y444) G711 knowing -> (uLaw vs aLaw, sample rate, formats i.e. S16LE vs. F32LE) Knowing when to use MPEG vs two separate UDP streams. Wireshark -> Knowing all the key protocols to debug Skills and Abilities: C, C++, Java programming, Python programming. Familiarity with Onvif protocol, REST API's Working knowledge of real-time streaming protocols, SOAP, XML (WSDL interfaces), Front end user interface design. Digital signal processing as related to audio devices (desired), Software test and validation. Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or related field. 4+ years of working as a software/firmware developer (integration) preferably for a security or A/V device manufacturer.
