Estimator - Large Diameter Utilities S. J. Louis Construction, Inc a national utility contractor, has an immediate need for a full-time Estimator to join our growing team!S. J. Louis Construction, Inc. specializes in the installation of large-diameter open-cut underground utilities including Gravity Sewer, Storm Sewer, Watermain, and Forcemain. We install various types of pipe materials, including Fiberglass, Ductile Iron, PVC, Pre-Stressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP), Concrete, High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Vitrified Clay Pipe (VCP), Welded Steel Pipe (WSP), and others. Position Purpose: As an estimator, you'll actively seek and pursue potential market bidding opportunities through supplier relationships, published bid advertisements, and other variable resources. A Day in the Life of an Estimator at S.J. Louis Construction, Inc: Monitors bid advertisement websites for opportunities appropriate to our company's areas of expertise with a high likelihood of successUses the HCSS Heavy Bid program, industry knowledge, and Company history to create competitive bids by required deadlines.Attends mandatory, non-mandatory pre-bid meetings and other location site visits to acquire information related to project specifications to determine conditions, potential equipment, material quantities, and subcontractor needsSources pricing through known supplier relationships and establish local resources appropriate to the projectReviews in detail contracts and other project documents of projects upon successful project awardProvides continued support to the Project Management teams to complete the project Preferred Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred3- 5 years experience in heavy civil underground utilities constructionA construction estimating/project management background is helpfulValid driver's license with satisfactory driving recordThorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards is essentialComputer proficiency, including the use of Microsoft Office and OutlookFamiliarity with HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job preferredMust be able to travel to job sites throughout the United StatesPractical written and verbal communication skillsHigh math aptitudeAbility to travel 15% of the time as requiredThe right candidate should be able to work well in a team environment and possesses excellent communication skills. They should be organized, self-motivated, a fast learner, and able to multitask and meet deadlines.
