ORGANIZATION: Chicago United for Equity ROLE: Executive Director LOCATION: Chicago, IL (On Site) SALARY: $115,000 - $125,000 ABOUT CUE Chicago United for Equity (CUE) is a network of racial justice advocates working across diverse types of civic power as organizers, researchers, artists, storytellers, policymakers, and lawyers to redesign Chicago’s civic institutions and transform Chicagoans’ relationship to power, creating the city we all deserve. Chicago communities envision a different future and build the blueprint to get there. Through the work of CUE's Fellows , CUE builds models for how to shift power in government, philanthropy, research, and other civic institutions. Since 2017, CUE has garnered national recognition for developing people-powered voter guides , participatory budgets , and community-led policymaking strategies. To learn more about CUE, visit: https://www.chicagounitedforequity.org/ ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ROLE CUE seeks a dynamic Executive Director to lead the organization in its mission to advance Chicago in a just, equitable, and inclusive way. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to serving Chicago and its diverse communities. The incoming Executive Director will have a proven track record of implementing cross-functional strategies while holding racial justice as a core element of their approach. As a seasoned professional with strong connections to Chicago, you will bring a knowledge of the social, economic, and political landscape and the eagerness to build partnerships and convene constituents throughout the city. You should apply to serve as CUE’s next leader if… You are a strategic leader: You’ll provide visionary leadership to guide the organization's mission, goals, and initiatives. You’ll develop and implement strategies that advance racial justice and equity while building upon existing programs and partnerships. You are an expert at community engagement: You can foster strong relationships with stakeholders, community leaders, and partner organizations across Chicago. Act as a spokesperson and advocate for racial justice issues, representing the organization in various forums and coalitions. You are skilled at managing resources: You can oversee the organization's financial health and sustainability, focusing on leading fundraising initiatives and securing resources to support critical programs and operations. Ensure responsible budget management and fiscal accountability. You are a people-first, relational leader: As an Executive Director, you will coach and support a dedicated team of staff members, providing opportunities for professional growth. You’ll take pride in fostering a collaborative, inclusive work environment that values diverse perspectives and contributions and possesses the experience to incorporate staff and member voices in decision-making meaningfully. You’re a natural connector: You can build on your networks to identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with funders, institutions, and community groups to amplify CUE’s impact and deepen the organization’s reach. You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders to leverage resources and advocate for policy change towards a co-created, unified vision of equity. You’re inspired by creativity and innovation: You enjoy driving innovation and excellence in programs and initiatives, continuously seeking ways to improve and adapt to the evolving needs of Chicago communities. You will encourage creativity and experimentation while focusing on sustainable outcomes and impact. Qualifications: Deep commitment to racial justice and equity, with a demonstrated track record of advancing these principles. At least three years of experience as a senior leader in a mission-driven organization dedicated to systemic change. Strong understanding of Chicago's political and social dynamics, with a network of connections and relationships across diverse communities. Proven experience in resource management, including fundraising, budgeting, and financial oversight. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire stakeholders throughout an organization and surrounding communities. Experience leading and developing high-performing teams with a coaching and collaborative leadership style. Strategic thinker who can translate vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic organizational environment. Compensation & Benefits Package: Health, dental, and vision insurance. 4-day work week - Off on Fridays Hybrid work model - 2 days in office, 2 days home 8 days per year remote work (can work from anywhere on days assigned to work from the office Vacation and sick leave 11 paid holidays off for the CUE Holiday Schedule Office closed for last two weeks of December Computer/electronic stipend Professional development stipend ($3,500/year) Powered by JazzHR
