Practice Area: Patent Agents - Biotechnology,Patent Agents - Electrical Engineering, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 3 Years, A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their team in Salt Lake City. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering or biotechnology, along with prior experience in patent law. The Patent Agent will work closely with inventors to identify patentable inventions, draft patent applications, and assist in the patent application process. The role requires strong research skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Duties:Work hand-in-hand with inventors on newly created productsAssist in the identification of patentable inventionsResearch current patented technologies to best assist clients in patentable workDraft patent applications with the assistance of the patent teamTrack the patent application process from initial application to granted patent to ensure the team remains on trackComplete ability searches regularlySolve client challenges and respond to client needsRespond to office actions and correspond with the U.S. Patent and Trademark OfficeConsistently meet billable hour requirementsAssist patent attorneys with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in science or engineeringMaster’s Degree or PhD desiredUSPTO Registration required3+ years of professional experienceBackgrounds in electrical engineering or biotechnologyPrior experience working in the area of patent law Skills:Strong research skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAttention to detail and accuracyProficiency in MS Office suite and patent search databases
