Job ID 17687 Space Dynamics Laboratory is seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator to design, implement, secure, and maintain systems and associated applications, services, and components. This is an on-site, non-remote position for our Albuquerque, NM location. SDL supports a variety of missions, including NASA's vision to reveal the unknown for the benefit of humankind and the Department of Defense's aim to protect our Nation on the ground, in the air, and in space. Our sensors, satellites, software systems, and science and engineering play an essential role in some important missions you've heard of, and others that you haven't. Key Responsibilities: Achieves in-depth knowledge of company processes, systems, and networksMonitors assigned systems to ensure high availability, optimum performance, and securityAssists with the day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgradesFollows established IT policies and procedures to perform audits and ensure complianceEnsures data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutionsWork with your leaders to prioritize projects, requests, changes, and tasksDocument issues in, communicate progress (though updates, workflow status, due date etc.) as the issue is being workedUnderstand and utilizewhen adding, modifying, or removing anything that could have an effect on IT servicesProactively monitors assigned systems to ensure high availability, optimum performance, and securityAssists in installation and configuration of information systems and componentsAssists in the design and implementation of information systemsResponsible for documentation of assigned systems and solutions Minimum Qualifications: Willing to perform maintenance and support on systems outside of core hours (on-call) as requiredMust be willing to travel if required (not a normal expectation)Strong organizational skills, quick learner, and demonstrated problem solverAbility to apply knowledge to complex, practical situationsAbility to work well independently and as part of a teamExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a wide range of internal and external customersAbility and desire to continue learning new skills as system needs grow and changeDoD 8140 compliant (or able to obtain within 30 days of hire)Five years of experience in administration of Linux environments to include CentOS, RHEL, and Ubuntu, especially in an offline environmentServer and desktop configuration and maintenance experience Ability to manage installation and maintenance of monthly security patchesExperience with Active Directory/LDAP and KerberosMust be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a DOD security clearance Preferred Qualifications: BS degree or equivalent experience in information technology, computer science, information systems, engineering, or related computer fieldTen years IT systems administratorexperienceExperience with automation (patching, scripting, etc)Automation using scripts, cron, or other methods (i.e., Ansible)Experience with containerized platforms (i.e., Kubernetes, OpenShift)Familiar with databases (i.e., Postgres, MySQL) and Linux web services (i.e., Apache)Knowledge of DoD Security Requirements within classified spacesUnderstanding of information systems security best practices and use of security tools such as Nessus, SCAP, and applying STIGsExperience managing offline repositoriesExperience with one or more of the following would be helpful:system build and maintenance, system patching in an enterprise environment (batchpatch/MECM/etc.), backups, workstation encryption, Virtualization (VMware), storage, administration of Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket, MSSQL, etc.Active TS/SCI w/ adjudicated polygraph (please disclose any clearance when applying as all are beneficial)SDL Benefits: At SDL, we take pride in and highly value our employees.
