Do you possess exceptional surgical skills and a heart for pediatric care? If so, join our team at Children's Wisconsin Surgery Center as a Surgical Assistant. An added perk, is that this position has no weekends or holidays!! Reporting to the Perioperative Manager, the Surgical Assistant functions with demonstrated expertise, assisting in all aspects of assigned surgical procedures under the direct guidance of a physician. As defined by the American College of Surgeons, the First Assistant aids in exposure, hemostasis and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. This role will vary considerably with the operation and specialty area. Prepares for surgical procedures and assists entire surgical team. Assists with orientation of new personnel in scrubbing and assisting role. Also assumes all principal duties and responsibilities of a surgical technologist as assigned.Requires completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.Requires knowledge of sterile procedure, instrument set up and operating room procedures at a level acquired through successful completion of one year of coursework in an accredited Operating Room Assistants (Surgical Assistant) program.Certified First Assistant credential preferred.Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.Ability to stand for long periods of time for up to 90% of work time and lift and move large pieces of equipment weighing up to 40 or 50 pounds.Ability to rotate shifts and / or work flexible hours to meet patient care needs.Rotating late days is a requirement.Hours: Monday through Friday 7am-3:30pm.
