Duties As a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-8268-10, this position is located in a National Guard aircraft maintenance organizationIts primary purpose is to perform on- and/or off-equipment maintenance on assigned aircraft pneudraulic systems, components and related aerospace ground equipmentPerforms maintenance and operational and functional checks on assigned pneudraulic systemsTroubleshoots, removes, inspects, installs, repairs, modifies, rebuilds, and/or tests pneudraulic systems and components for aircraft pneudraulic systems, associated ground support equipment, and/or related test equipmentAccomplishes periodic and special inspections on hydraulic componentsInspects all components and subsystems for operation, internal, and external leakage and servicingOperates portable test stands for checkout of pneudraulic systemRemoves, installs, and/or repairs pneudraulic components from aircraft and associated aerospace ground equipmentRemoves, disassembles, cleans, repairs, assembles components, and tests completed unitOperates test equipment for all hydraulic componentsInspects for cracks, scratches, nicks, and holes on seals, gaskets, packings, and hosesModifies systems and their componentsRigs, adjusts, and aligns hydraulic components to ensure maximum operating efficiencyPolishes cylinders and pistons to ensure proper fitInvestigates pneudraulic failures to determine causes and accomplishes corrective maintenancePerforms installation, modification, and/or repair of aircraft pneudraulic systemsDetermines proper maintenance and repair procedures and minimum requirements pertaining to parts, clearance and tolerances, and performance characteristics of pneudraulic systems and related aerospace ground equipmentSolves unusual maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, schematic diagrams, applicable technical publications, and analyzing construction and operating characteristics of pneudraulic systemsDetermines repair procedures necessary to correct defective equipmentDiagnoses recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective action by initiation of Quality Deficiency Reports, proposed modifications, or other appropriate actionsPerforms Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) related to pneudraulic systemsAccomplishes local manufacture of hose assemblies and provides testing of aircraft tubingAccomplishes hydraulic fluid sampling on assigned aircraft, test stands, and servicing equipmentRepairs in-flight refueling systems on tanker aircraft.Performs organizational and field level maintenance to include periodic, phase time, calendar, unscheduled, and special inspectionProvides technical assistance to other shops concerning complicated interaction malfunctions between other systems, subsystems, and componentsJacks aircraft to simulate flight configuration, connects power sources, and uses cockpit controls, gauges, and additional precision instruments to check the operation of such items as landing gear doors, ground and flight spoilers and steering and brake systems for performance and conformance to operating specificationsPrepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercisesMay be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, serve as security guard, remove snow, load and handle munitions, launch/recover and service of aircraft, operate heavy equipment, maintain facilities and equipment, or serves as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies*The above description only mentions a limited amount of the position's official dutiesFor a full comprehensive document that covers all the duties of the position, please contact one of the Recruitment Specialists at the bottom of the announcementRequirements Conditions of Employment--- National Guard Membership is required.--- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.--- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.--- U.Scitizenship is required.--- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.--- The duties of this job may significantly impact the environmentYou are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission.--- Must be able to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.--- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; shift work and/or overtime may be required.--- Federal employment suitability required and determined by a background investigation before appointment to position.--- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.--- Must have a valid driver's license.--- Must be able to obtain/maintain the necessary security clearance for the position.--- Compatible Military AFSC Assignments: 2A6X5--- Military Grades: Enlisted Members only Qualifications Areas of Consideration: Area 1 - Current permanent and indefinite T32 technicians of the Oregon ANGArea 2 - Current permanent and indefinite T5 employees of the Oregon ANGArea 3 - Current service members in the Oregon ANGArea 4 - Individuals in the active duty US Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National GuardArea 5 - US Citizens eligible to meet the military requirements for membership in the Oregon ANGGENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Work involved in the maintenance, modification, and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems associated with aircraftThe work requires: knowledge of the physical principles governing the behavior of fluids (liquids and gases) as they pertain to hydraulic and pneumatic systems and their components; knowledge of aircraft structures and the relationship of hydraulic pneumatic systems to the structure and other aircraft systems; knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; the ability to use technical manuals and schematics and to test for and isolate malfunctions in hydraulic and pneumatic systems; and the skill to effect modifications, repairs, or maintenance requiredExperience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems;
