This is an opportunity to join the fast-paced world of engineering ground combat vehicles for the US ArmyWorking as a DCS employee co-located in Warren Michigan, you will work alongside the U.SArmy Ground Vehicle Systems Center customer and be rewarded with a technically challenging and diverse career in the areas of ground vehicles, vehicle electronics, and advanced sensorsEssential Job Functions: Responsible for the engineering management of vetronic and sensor hardware integration projects for schedule and performance metrics, and coordination with project management to achieve program goalsIdentify state-of-the-art commercial and Government sensor and hardware technologies, and novel sensor and hardware engineering methodologies and apply them to the Army ground vehicle acquisition programConduct, monitor, direct and coordinate research, design, development and engineering activities on assigned technology areas at the component-, subsystem-, and system-levelReview and advise on preliminary design studies for new or improved items, components, subsystems, and systems, as well as engineering changes which may affect military characteristicsPrepare and review test plans, observe tests, and analyze test results to determine adequacy of performance, and provide recommendations to address deficienciesAnalysis of component-, subsystem-, and system-level hardware solutions and gauging effectiveness at addressing emerging capabilitiesPrepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends to support the development of Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Courses of Action (COAs), and Trade StudiesDevelop scope of effort estimates (Rough Order of Magnitude and Quotes) and engineering estimates for manpower, materiel, schedule requirements, and potential risks, etcParticipate with technical teams in identifying developing software for the Army ground vehiclesParticipate in working group meetings and IPT meetings, to provide technical expertise and recommend solutions to address any issues that come upAssist in writing and preparing the Scopes of Work (SOW) and technical requirements for Army ground vehicle solicitation, source selection and Army ground vehicle programsHave strong knowledge of project management, understanding of overall program schedules, and systems engineeringConduct and provide engineering analysis and evaluation of design concepts, performance measurements, architectural analysis and design, technical reviews, requirements analysis, risk analysis and mitigation, and functional analysis in support of design, development, integration, test, production, logistics, fielding, and sustainment for U.S military ground combat systemsParticipate in the execution of design reviews, sustainment planning, certification planning and implementation, verification planning and compliance, requirements and specification assessments and trade-space recommendations, interface management, architecture, design decisions, logistic support analysis, change management, metrics generation, analysis and management, review of technical proposals for vehicle system products, and configuration management activitiesProvide subject matter expertise to the development of contract statements of work (SOWs), Work Directives (WD), Contract Data Requirement Lists (CDRLs) for the creation of electrical schematics, "one-wire" interconnect diagrams (power, signal, and data), system integration drawings, system requirements, Bills of Material, and the necessary notes and information to support Developmental & Product Technical Data Packages (per MIL-STD-31000)Required Skills: Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.SCitizenship is requiredBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering plus a minimum of year 5 years of experience with engineering of networked vehicle systemsMust be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearanceProject management experienceSelf-starter with the ability to work without direct supervisionAbility to work within a team context to both direct and contribute to vehicle system integration and development effortsAbility to daily provide high quality support and customer service to the Government customer in a high visibility positionExcellent written and verbal communications skillsStrong interpersonal abilities, including ability to tactfully negotiate resolution to competing programmatic demands and requirementsA strong customer service mentalityComfortable with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ProjectAbility to travel to various customer and contractor facilities and test centers (estimated approx 10% travel)This position is at a client site but may have an option for regular teleworkIt is possible that the option for telework could be eliminated in the future, so candidates must be willing to perform this role 100% on-site if requiredDesired Skills: Electrical, computer, and/or systems engineering experience on DoD ground combat vehiclesUnderstanding of the DoD acquisition processExperience with in-vehicle data networks.
