Date Posted: 2024-03-27Country: United States of AmericaLocation: MD601: 1325 East West Hwy Silver Sprg 1325 East West Highway , Silver Spring, MD, 20910 USAPosition Role Type: HybridAt Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling - to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggressionWe bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today's mission and stay ahead of tomorrow's threatOur team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure worldJob Summary: Raytheon is searching for a Systems Engineer to support the program's infrastructure group performing system provisioning, installation, configuration and maintenance of mission critical systemsRaytheon is responsible for supporting the operations, maintenance, and 24/7 technical support of this mission critical system as well as enhancing the infrastructure and software to meet the emerging needs of our customer The candidate should be a skilled individual capable of problem isolation, root cause identification, systems analysis, and other administrative/engineering tasks in a Red Hat Linux environment As part of a small team of engineers, you will participate in supporting and enhancing the underlying systems for the AWIPS platforms via deployment of new system and software configurations, working with new tools , participation in agile scrums and operational field support You will engage in support efforts and system configuration such as system provisioning and setup, security patching, configuration management and system hardeningOther duties may include system support services for other areas of the infrastructure team, performance monitoring and data analysis, investigation into tools and/or processes which could be utilized to improve efficiency of routine tasks and increase reliability and velocity of system maintenance both in the lab and in the fieldYou will enjoy the chance of working with emerging technologies like OpenShift, Ansible Tower, puppet, and others while helping with virtualization and container integrationResponsibilities to Anticipate:--- Participate in focused efforts to develop , configure and deploy new infrastructure (e.gOpenShift Virtualization Environment )--- Maintain system level configurations (OS/security baseline and AWIPS baseline) of test environments within Raytheon Test Facility.--- Maintain and develop installation automation for use within system modifications.--- Document draft installation instructions to be used in fielding new software releases and support the testing of these by both Raytheon and NWS personnel.--- Learn /maintain Ansible playbooks and create new ones where necessaryRequired Skills:--- At least 5 years experience in system setup and administration within a Red Hat Linux environment--- Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift.--- Experience with scripting and actively writing/modifying scripts to improve monitoring or deployment (Python or bash shell).--- Ability to troubleshoot, debug and root cause to the lowest common denominator--- Excellent written and oral communication skills--- Ability to obtain a US Public Trust (NACI) "U.Scitizenship is required, as only U.Scitizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract."--- Prior AWIPS experience--- Typically requires:--- A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience--- advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experienceMay have practical knowledge of project--- management Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.--- Location: Silver Spring, MD Desired Skills:--- Experience with TCP/IP networking (DNS, DHCP, etc.)--- Experience with Red Hat Satellite 6--- Experience writing and managing puppet modules through Red Hat Satellite--- Experience with Ansible Automation Platform or Ansible Tower--- Experience with Red Hat IdM product--- Experience provisioning virtual machines on a KVM hypervisorExperience with RHEV a plus.--- Experience with AIDE, ArcSight, sar, SELinux, and firewalld--- Experience with provisioning bare metal servers through kickstart.--- Experience setting up or maintaining a GIT environment Additional Information:--- Hybrid : Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsiteRatio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leaderWhat We Offer: Whether you're just starting out on your career journey or are an experienced professional, we offer a robust total rewards package with compensation;
