It is the foundation of The Memorial Experience.Summary:Upon successful completion of a PGY1 residency program, a pharmacist may transition to a specialized practitioner focused on the care of patients in their specialty. Provides accurate, safe, and cost effective drug distribution and specialized clinical services through supervised efforts of supportive staff to patients of the specialty area.Responsibilities:Participates in teaching activities such as formal educational presentation(s), journal club(s), staff development, and other multidisciplinary programs.Meets with Residency Program Director or designee as needed to evaluate progress and ensure program expectations are met . Meets with preceptors or designee for education and evaluation of rotation goals and objectives.Interacts with physicians, nurses and other healthcare workers through inter-disciplinary rounds and collaboration to provide patient care. Employs professional responsibility and appropriate communication skills when interacting with patients, pharmacy team members, and healthcare practitioners.Acts as a preceptor in training and mentor for pharmacy students and PGY1 residents. Works in concert with the Residency Program Director and preceptors to enhance the residency experience for future residents.Provides clinical and operational pharmacy services as a pharmacist consistent with departmental policy and procedure.Develops and completes residency research project and other longitudinal assignments. Ability to speak, write, and understand the English language. Ability to handle complex clinical demands and develop professional practice patterns to implement interventions based on clinical evidence and good practices. Ability to work effectively with pharmacy and multi-disciplinary team members. This role requires critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The resident must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action when required. Required Work Experience: Completion of a Post-Graduate Year One pharmacy residency program. Other Information: Must have a clear and active Florida Pharmacy Intern license or Florida Pharmacist license by the start of the residency program. Resident must be licensed as a Florida licensed pharmacist prior to or within 60 days of the start of the residency program year.Additional Education Info: Requires completion of an advanced degree in pharmacy (PharmD) from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College of Pharmacy or a College of Pharmacy granted candidate status by ACPE. Also, must have completed an ASHP accredited post graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program or a program pending ASHP accreditation and/or equivalent Fellowship or training program.
