Title: Production Tie Superintendent 3 FLSA Status: ExemptJob DescriptionThe Production Tie Superintendent is a field-based position that actively participates inand coordinates work on railroad tie rehabilitation projects, supervises the field crewand is responsible for the completion of all assigned projects in a safe and timelymanner while utilizing the highest quality of workmanship and meeting budgetaryexpectations.THIS POSITION IS FIELD BASED AND DOES NOT HAVE TO RESIDE IN LOCATIONOF JOB POSTINGEssential Duties and Responsibilities: Plans work activities with Project Manager to develop best means and methods,including safety action plans. Reviews all contracts, project documentation and plans to ensure that the work inthe field is built to the most recent specifications. Plans the day-to-day operations on assigned project and ensures that properresources are in place for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools,equipment and material. Takes responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals, safetyaudits, and following company policies and procedures. Plans, schedules and manages crews comprised of 20-25 employees includingforemen, operators and laborers. Initiates follow up action as necessary including training, drug testing, orientation,discipline, etc. Supervises work and complies with the FRA track safety standards and RoadwayWorker Safety Rules. Conducts daily briefing with crew to review production goals, performancefeedback, safety and schedule, hazards, and to solicit feedback from theworkers. Maintains a dedication to safety at all times by modeling, providing education andenforcing safe work practices and company policies and procedures. Make sure the proper safety equipment is available and used by all fieldpersonnel. Communicates with customer and ensures a high level of customer satisfaction. Ensures that work is completed to a high level of quality, every day. Ensures crew member time sheets are properly submitted. Unloads and spreads all material required for projects. Manages material quantity on hand to ensure adequate supply for planned work. Changes out ties and/or switch timbers in a production environment as markedby the owner and in accordance with project specifications. Gauges track along the tie change-out area when directed by the owner andcontract specifications. Ensures track is safe for train traffic at the end of each shift, in accordance withthe FRA 213 Track Safety Standards. Submits daily production reports to office in a timely manner. Completes daily CWR track disturbance reports when required by the railroad ina timely manner. Performs independent equipment inspections one time during each work rotation. Performs efficiency testing on subordinates as required by FRA 243requirements.Overall coordination of the crew including: Coordinating and scheduling crew members to be at the site at the desired time. Setting up hotel rooms for crew members. Fueling of machines prior to each shift and or as necessary. Ensuring the operators complete walk around inspections daily for RoadwayMaintenance Machines. Ensure that equipment is operated properly to mitigate damage. Ensuring the overall safety, quality, and production of the gang. Coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance with crew mechanics to keepequipment operating efficiently. Communicates with contractors or sub-contractors to coordinate work, goals, etc.Operates Company vehicle, DOT Medical Card required.Qualifications Needed: 5+ years of experience in railroad construction. Extensive experience in supervising and managing railroad tie gang operations. Must qualify in track inspection as required by FRA. Basic knowledge of all aspects of track construction and maintenance includingtrack, turnout and crossing construction, rail replacement, track surfacing andthermite welding. Previous experience managing track construction projects. Ability to train and motivate workers. Ability to read and understand project specific documents including schedules,standard railway plans and specifications. Ability to oversee the work of others and clearly communicate instructions tocrew. Strong client relation skills. Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills. Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of thework being performed. Ability to understand and expertly carry out instructions. Ability to keep records and to prepare production reports, time sheets, equipmentlogs, inspection reports, change orders and updating project files. Ability to perform other administrative and/or project-based duties as assigned. Must be able to travel 90-100% Basic computer and mobile device proficiency. Independent starter and must be Self-motivated with good communication skills. Work outdoors in inclement weather.Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with
