Term of App't: Sept - Dec 2023 (6hrs per week) Start date: September 5, 2023 Reporting to: Dean of Academic & Vocational Programs Salary: $46.44 - $55.11/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% on all regular earnings in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day. Description: The IHSW 101 course provides an introduction to human service work in a northern and rural context with an emphasis on Indigenous communities and individuals. Students will be introduced to the skills, knowledge, and values necessary for entry-level work in a human service field. The course prepares students through an examination of the history, nature, and characteristics, of effective human service workers. This course requires a part-time instructor to teach IHSW 101: Introduction to Human Service Work for the Fall 2023 semester from any of the following Campus locations: Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Chetwynd or Fort Nelson. This course will be taught via MS Teams (synchronous, online). A more detailed course outline can be found on the program webpage: www. nlc. bc. ca/Programs/All-Programs-Alphabetical/UAS-Indigenous-Human-Service-Worker-Certificate Required: Master's Degree in Social Work or First Nations Studies, or a closely related field. (A Bachelor's Degree in a related field with extensive work experience in a related field will be considered. ) Demonstrated extensive experience working with or in local indigenous communities or in-depth knowledge of local indigenous traditional practices. Preferred: Ph. D in Social Work or First Nations Studies, or a closely related field; The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential.
