Job Title: Production Manager Reports To: Director of Operations Department: Production Direct Reports: None FLSA Status: Exempt Job Grade: Summary: The Production Manager directs production employees to maximize productivity. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing product and employee complaints and resolving problems. In addition, this person is responsible for the condition of all equipment and for assisting with EHS reporting . Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and are not limited to: Works with management and other staff to assign, direct, review and monitor work of supervised staff to maximize productivity in the plant; Provides supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, training, retention, feedback, disciplinary action, and performance management. Ensures proper policies and procedures are in place and being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety, and state and federal guidelines. Coordinates production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of jobs. Evaluates needs in production for daily assignment of duties; establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedule. Ensures preventative maintenance is done properly and on time. Assists in EHS reporting and submittals. Assists in troubleshooting and performing repairs as needed. Complete all assigned paperwork, including but not limited to, time clock reporting, production records, 5S audits, schedules, accident reports and investigations, and any other documents. Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Project Scheduling - The ability to understand the proper allocation of resources for the purpose of getting things done within a defined timeframe. Attention to Detail - Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved. Technical Skills - Pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; Shares expertise with others. Customer Service - Meets commitments. Interpersonal Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree or combination of education and work experience in a similar manufacturing position and/or discipline. Minimum 2-3 years supervisory experience in manufacturing plant environment. Working knowledge of EHS, Maintenance, and Lean practices. Computer Skills: Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and ACT! Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret working drawings and specifications. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Skilled communications. Client management skills. Mathematical / Analytical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Knowledge of basic electrical calculation, applicable codes and standards, rules and regulations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to determine alternate project scopes. Quality Responsibility: In daily work, an employee is responsible to maintain or exceed the degree of excellence requested by the internal and external customers of this department. This includes following established policies, following quality policies procedures and work instructions, using problem solving techniques to solve root causes of problems, and viewing quality as customer satisfaction.
