Term of App't: August - December 2023 (appr. 8.5 hrs/week) Start date: August 28, 2023 Reporting to: Dean of Academic & Vocational Programs Salary: $43.80 - $49.70, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. Description: NLC's University Arts and Sciences program requires a sessional instructor to teach LAND 255: Land Reclamation for our fall semester. Land reclamation is the application of a broad understanding of environmental factors including ecology, forestry, soils, agriculture, botany, native, water, contamination, and invasive plant species. The contract will consist of 45 hours of lecture + 30 hours of lab + additional prep time for a total of 142.5 hours. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's Degree in Environmental Sciences, or closely related field, or a combination of education and experience may be considered. Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills Commitment to student motivation and success; and the Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy. Preferred: Ph D in Environmental Sciences, or a closely related field Five years of work experience in a related discipline, including a significant amount of field work as part of the work experience. Experience in reclamation and remediation in the oil and gas industry in northeastern BC. A candidate qualified to teach all courses as listed above. The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education. Demonstrable success as an instructor in a post-secondary environment.
