Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Maintenance General Date Posted: 4/16/2024 Location: Maintenance & Transportation Mechanic Primary Purpose: An individual who is highly motivated with special skills relating to diagnosing and repairing electric/electronics systems and automotive air-conditioning. Perform major mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of district vehicles. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED Certified diesel mechanic Clear and Valid Texas driver's license/Commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) Experience: Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material. Advanced knowledge of diesel and fuel engineer maintenance and repair. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems independently. Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair. Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam. Ability to complete required bus driver safety training Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to use maps and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to follow routes and locate addresses Ability to mange student behavior Ability to communicate effectively with others Ability to operate school bus Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around gas lines; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel Application Procedure: Apply online
