Together under the Shyft umbrella, our teams drive new synergies that bring innovations to life on the road - for an experience that is safer, more satisfying, more rewarding all around.With 50 years and millions of miles behind us, we continue to charge forward - leading the commercial vehicle transition to electric, innovating across all our brands, and earning our position among Fortune's 100 Fastest Growing Companies.What you'll do:The Welder position is responsible for welding various materials. * Use modification and welding skills to build and rework product * Perform welding (AWS 3G/4G) according to blue prints * Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete welding in assigned are * Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etc. * Understand, and be able to articulate, the production flow of an assigned product line or area * Self-check work and inspect prior processes * Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required * Meet production goals * Maintain a clean and safe work area * Initiate process improvements * Support 5S in work area * Lead / perform lean events * Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues * Solve complex problems with minimal assistanceWhat you need to be successful: * High School Diploma or GED * Excellent attendance * Positive attitude * Strong and consistent attention to detail * Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task * Team oriented * Basic computer skills are required * Must be able to pass the required welding certification DuraMag test. * Previous experience and/or certifications preferred * Must understand AWS welding symbols * Must be able to set up, adjust, and maintain welding machines * Must be able to Mig or Tig weld steel, stainless, and aluminum as neededWilling to: * Learn and rotate within various weld areas * Wear PPE respirators for an extended amount of time * Improve self/area/company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)Able to: * Read and comprehend blueprints including weld specifications at a high level * Work overtime on short noticeWhy The Shyft Group?We believe that when our people thrive personally and professionally, our business thrives.
