Milestone Contractors is a fully integrated highway, heavy construction, asphalt paving, concrete paving, and site-development general contractor providing construction services throughout the state of Indiana and beyond. We are currently hiring for an Estimator to join our team. Position Summary: Generates estimates and new business opportunities in assigned markets Essential Functions: Generates and develops quotes Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare quotes/estimates Computes various cost factors Prepares budgets and schedules for work Ensures all estimates meet or exceed company and customer's expectations, as well as regulatory requirements Develops beneficial business relationships Develops good working relationships with vendors, subcontractors, clients and INDOT personnel Develops a network and contacts within the community Performs day-to-day estimating tasks Sets up jobs in job costing Generates purchase orders and subcontractor agreements Reviews billings, prepares change orders and job cost reports Communicates with internal/external customers. Answers inquiries via phone, email or in-person. Provides highest levels of customer service. Makes presentations to large and small groups Translates technical information into easily understood language Promotes and maintains safe work environment. Clerical office environment Indoor lab conditions that include standard office equipment such as computers, photocopier, phone, filing cabinets, fax machines, cubicles Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sits at a desk regularly Looks at a computer screen 8 hours a day Performs data entry, alpha and 10-key numeric, on a keyboard Uses copy/fax to scan documents Drives a motor vehicle May lift or move up to 10lbs Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, normally 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. Weekend and shift work may be required on specific projects. Travel Regular travel to job sites, customer sites, and corporate offices around the state is required; mostly day trips, but some overnight travel. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction management or related field or 1-5 years previous experience in asphalt paving and or bridge construction industry preferred. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must pass a pre-employment drug screen Must adhere to drug free workplace requirements, including random testing requirements If required to drive a company vehicle, must have or be able to obtain valid, state driver's license and meet company driver requirements Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable) Must be authorized to work in the United States, as verified through E-Verify. Some job sites may require additional criminal background testing.
