Position Summary: The CNC Lathe Machinist will operate and program as well as maintaining, setting, and adjusting the machine. To produce high-quality parts, machinists will set up machines, write and test programs, and make adjustments as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following, as well as other duties that may be assigned. Sets up, programs and operates lathe independently Optimize programs, set ups, fixtures, process improvements and cycle time reductions. Load program, load tooling, program edits, adjust offset, feeds and speeds and tool cutter comp to optimize production while maintaining quality Interprets complicated drawings, program sheets, instructions, and process sheets to determine work to be done Performs diversified operations on numerical controlled machines Performs a variety of related operations to close and interrelated tolerances Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine sequence and dimensions of finished work piece Attaches fixtures to machine according to setup instructions Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions Performs a variety of inspection and gaging operations to insure maintenance of quality standards and specifications Measures work piece for conformance to specifications Adjusts machine according to specifications Cleans machine parts and performs machine maintenance Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficiency using CNC manufacturing machinery Knowledge of basic computer skills and understand machining programs Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent 1-3 years’ experience in a fabrication/production role Licensing/Certificates: CNC machine certification a plus.
