We are currently seeking a dynamic professional with demonstrated impact to lead our Youth Development (After School and Summer Day Camp) and Child Watch programs. The qualified candidate will possess at a minimum: Demonstrated skill in youth program management Passion for working and developing youth Ability to build solid relations and build on current collaborations with school partners and other community entities to grow programs Ability to build and grow progressive youth programs Strong ability to effectively communicate with program participants, parents, members and community partners. Discounts on programs Child Care discount 25%; Summer Camp discounts Free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Program The Program Director-Youth Development ensures quality programs are offered for youth and teens in the community and develops positive long-term relationships with participants. The Program Director is primarily responsible for generating, planning and organizing productive youth/teen oriented activities and for overall administration of the program in the assigned branches. The Program Director will manage the program in accordance with the goals, objectives, and budgetary constraints set forth and in compliance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley and state child care guidelines. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for the supervision of all Youth Development (After School & Summer Day Camp) and Child Watch staff for assigned branches. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Serve as role model to members and Y staff and, at all times live the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA movement. Inform and educate all members and program participants about the mission, character development, goals, action plans, programs and charitable purpose of the Y. Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing and promoting progressive and new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Responsible for management of all youth development and child watch program staff to include, but not limited to, recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and performance management. Facilitate training and development opportunities for all assigned staff to ensure completion and required certifications are obtained and maintained. Prepare and manage program budget within the set goals, monitoring expenses and reviewing payroll regularly. Ensure all state required child care records for assigned sites are maintained as necessary; this includes children's files, staff files and payment records. Ensure staff maintain a clean and safe work site. Regular monitoring of and working at sites is required. Prepare schedules and assignments for staff, train and communicate the importance of using When2Work scheduling software. Promote programs using effective media/marketing sources, create impactful relationships with community partners to grow programs and awareness. Purchase supplies and equipment as required for program needs. Attend training and certification workshops necessary for the safe and effective management of the program area. Provide accurate records and appropriate reports to comply with the requirements of insurance, state codes, and other regulatory requirements. Coordinate and manage facilities and equipment used for programs in the gyms and multipurpose areas in assigned branches. Perform MOD duties as outlined in the association MOD schedule. Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign. Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements. Adherence to all policies and procedures of the YMCA of the Iowa MississippiValley. Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment. Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings. All other duties as assigned by the Branch Executive. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred. Must obtain a minimum of 75 points as established by DHS regulations this is achieved through a combination of education, experience and training. Prior experience working in youth and/or licensed child care programs in a supervisory capacity is required. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share information with staff, parents, and members. Proven record of successfully managing multiple programs simultaneously. Able to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations. Able to travel between worksites. CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must obtain a minimum of 6 hours training annually according to DHS requirements Must complete the DHS required Essentials Training program. Must be able to pass background check CPR/First Aid/AED certification* Mandatory Reporter* *Note: If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire. All the above certification training programs are available at the YMCA. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires physical effort such as lifting of at least 50 lbs, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, balancing, and climbing. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear and possess visual capabilities to communicate and ensure the safety of the program participants. Must be physically able to perform the various activities conducted during YLD programs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and varying fitness equipment. The noise level in the work environment can vary from quiet to moderate during office hours and moderate too loud during event hours. This position works in a variety of environments which can include but are not limited to, office settings, gymnasiums, and outdoors. This position works a varied work week as determined by the needs required to manage operations and events of which can include working evening, weekend, and additional hours to accommodate program and other activities representing the organization and branch operation.
