Includes staffing analyses, conducting orientation and training of new staff, and assures competency of staff. Develops policies and procedures for the inpatient & outpatient coding process. Identifies areas for improvement to support optimal coding efficiency and operations. Education, Certification, Etc. Bachelor's degree in Health Information Administration and active RHIA OR, Associate Degree in Health Information Technology OR active RHIT and/or Certified Coding Specialist accreditation through the AHIMA. Skills & Experience: Three to five years of related experience in a lead role in a highly progressive acute care setting as well as having experience with training, quality improvement, compliance and record keeping. Requires advanced verbal and written communication skills to facilitate communication with physicians, clinicians, department personnel as well as outside vendors. Requires an ability to lead a team of technical staff, creatively solve problems, write reports and deal with tight deadlines.
