Course Description: Interactions among peoples, empires, and cultures, with particular attention to the non-European world. Can we speak of “international relations” before the modern concept of nation-states was established? What forms did globalization take in the pre-modern era? Covering a broad chronological sweep, we will look at exchanges of goods and technologies; dissemination of ideas and religions; voyages of migration and exploration; and episodes of conquest and colonization. Est. Hours: 75 Estimated Enrolment: 200 Class Schedule: Tuesday & Thursday 3-4 Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2023 - April 30, 2024 Salary: $52.26/hour Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum MA in History or related discipline; Previous Head TA experience in this or a similar course. Experience supervising TAs. Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding student issues. Excellent knowledge of the subject matter; teaching experience in this or a similar course is preferred. Description of duties: Arranging and assigning tutorial hours. Liaising with individual TAs and course instructors/supervisors over any pedagogical, procedural and student issues arising during the session. Preparing and maintaining course materials. Marking essays/exams submitted on petition.
