Sr Accounting Specialist

Description:
Summary Performs specialized accounting functions and recommends/implements solutions to accounting problems. Coordinates the preparation of data, computer input, account control, adjustments, corrections, and the reporting of financial data.Duties and Responsibilities Performs accounting services with primary support in Disbursements (Accounts Payable, Payroll). Prepares journal entries and reconciles account balances with appropriate records. Conducts special investigations and compiles accounting data for specific activities. Coordinates or performs the accumulation, analysis and distribution of accounting data. Coordinates accounting methods and recommends/implements improvement in departmental procedures. Performs liaison activities with accounting management, internal and external customers. Investigates problems and implements corrective action. Reviews and analyzes accounting data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations and DOE orders. Assists in training personnel in various accounting routines and procedures. Analyzes financial system output and initiates corrections as required. Performs, reviews, and analyzes a variety of financial-related calculations. May perform other duties as required. Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to "stop" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.FMT2021You Must Have High School diploma and 5 years of relevant experience. Ability to travel up to 5% of the time. Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business United States Citizenship. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job. Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.We Value Associates degree in accounting. Knowledge of general accounting or payroll methods and practices normally acquired through a degree in accounting or equivalent formal education and experience. Proficiency in in Microsoft Office Suite.
