Overview The Distribution Center Facilities Manager position is responsible for management of all building maintenance and facilities. This position oversees and directs the repairs and maintenance of the building, automated conveyor system, forklift fleet and physical property, ensuring a clean and safe environment which contributes to the continuous improvement of Distribution Center operations. This person collaborates with corporate headquarters, and all departments in our Distribution Center to execute continuous process Improvement programs in a timely and effective manner. Responsibilities Facilities Responsible for facilities including building construction, grounds, material handling equipment maintenance and automation necessary to maximize distribution center operations Manages facilities team by ensuring effective maintenance of all equipment and building, and manages all professional interactions Manages the value and attitudes of the team by supervising work assignments, formal and informal communication and one-on-one interactions. In partnership with Risk Management, Engineering and Operations, oversees safety initiatives in the Distribution Center including safety training activities, content development, training delivery and effectiveness measurement Responsible for managing the labor and capital expenditure plans for the department Utilizes knowledge of codes such as the National Electric Code (NEC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to coordinate activities with outside regulatory agencies to ensure compliance OSHA, federal, state and local codes and regulations Responds to all emergency calls for the Distribution Center Leads the daily maintenance operation in our Distribution Center Directs the maintenance of the building including maintaining cleanliness and management of the recycling and solid waste programs Serves as the point of contact for vendors Provides assistance when needed repairing and maintaining the facility Operates computer-controlled building systems and conveyor systems Safety Oversees the Distribution Center Safety Committee and acts as its leader and facilitator Leads the Distribution Center Emergency Response team Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment Contributes to a clean and safe Distribution Center Consistently arrives promptly to work the assigned schedule Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information The Benefits of Working HereOur benefits exemplify our commitment to ensuring employees and their families are well taken care of, safe and secure. Some of our benefits include: Competitive Pay Medical/Dental/Vision Plans Discount: 50% on Elfa, 40% on Merchandise and Gift Cards, 25% on Avera Paid Time Off plus Holidays 401(k) plan with Company Match Employee First Fund: providing grants to employees experiencing unforeseen emergencies Qualifications College degree or comparable experience required; educational emphasis in Safety or a technical STEM discipline Experience in Safety Training and Management or Facilities Development and Management: 10 years preferred Experience working in a Distribution Center environment in a safety and facilities management capacity: 3 years preferred Proven mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability with passion for identifying issue root causes and implementing sustaining long-term process improvement Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining start-up maintenance and safety programs with external partners Expert level knowledge of Computerized Maintenance and Management System (CMMS) to plan, prioritize and manage work performed by the Maintenance Team Experience in an automated distribution center environment preferred with ability to read MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) drawings and schematics Understanding and knowledge of SDS (Safety Data Sheets) information Ability to travel 25% a year, based on the business needs Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs Must be at least 18 years of age The Container Store promotes a smoke-free, drug-free environment.
