Job Overview:The Public Entity Labor and Employment Associate Attorney will handle labor and employment cases, provide legal counsel to clients, and participate in trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings. They will be responsible for various legal tasks and collaborate with senior attorneys. Duties:Provide legal counsel to public sector clients, including cities, counties, and special districtsPrepare labor and employment cases for trial/arbitration, actively participating in legal proceedingsDemonstrate knowledge of public sector labor and employment law, including collective bargaining and employee benefit issuesConduct depositions of witnesses and experts, and handle law and motion issues related to discovery or workplace investigationsDevelop and execute discovery plans, including responding to written discoveryDraft motions for summary judgment and other legal documentsConduct comprehensive legal research and analysis within specified timelinesAssist senior attorneys in providing labor and employment advice and preparing legal memorandumsInterface with clients professionally and convey legal and strategic competenceTake ownership of cases and develop litigation plans or courses of action Requirements:3+ years of experience handling labor and employment matters, predominantly for public and/or private clientsExperience with public sector clients preferredJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law schoolAdmitted to practice law in California Skills:Excellent writing skills, particularly in drafting motions for summary judgmentStrong legal research and analysis abilitiesProficiency in managing discovery processes and written discovery responsesExperience in providing legal counsel and participating in trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedingsProfessionalism in client interactions and conveying legal and strategic competence This California firm was founded in 1979 and focuses on employment, labor, construction, education, real estate, general business and business litigation, corporate, taxation, bankruptcy, and immigration.
