Chief Engineer

Summary: The Chief Engineer is responsible for oversight and supervision of all infrastructure to ensure that the facility provides a safe, productive, and healthy environment for guests and employees. The ideal candidate will be organized and able to optimize the use of space and equipment while reducing operating costs. Leadership abilities, attention to detail, and efficiency are required. Responsibilities Plan and coordinate all installations, infrastructure improvements (telecommunications, heat, electricity etc.) and any refurbishments. Check and inspect all furniture and fixtures for safety and condition and repair or escalate to GM as necessary. Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify maintenance needs, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural repairs. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to prolong the lifespan of equipment and facilities. Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and renovations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. Enforcing safety protocols and regulations to create a secure environment for customers and staff, including fire safety, emergency preparedness, and health code compliance. Keeping abreast of relevant local regulations and industry standards to ensure the facilities meet or exceed requirements. Conduct periodic safety audits and training sessions for staff to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols. Complete walkthroughs to ensure accessibility, health codes, and fire life safety protocols are followed and met. Perform analysis and forecasting for all systems and perform routine/preventative maintenance as required or suggested per industry standards. Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards. Inspect buildings' structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations. Review utility consumption and strive to minimize costs. Supervise all facilities staff and external contractors including procuring bids and doing value analysis and review of all bids. Work with venue GM and operations managers to conduct repairs in a service-oriented timeline and within the constraints of operating hours. Control activities like waste disposal, load in/out of maintenance vendors etc. Oversee service contracts. Attend mandatory meetings and trainings. Maintain a professional, clean, and organized work environment. Communicate effectively with team members regarding R&M master list by effectively and appropriately using Clifton’s Republic online functions. Must Haves: Proven experience as facilities manager or relevant position for a minimum of 3 years. HVAC, licensed electrician, and Refrigeration Certified preferred Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices Audio & visual troubleshooting knowledge a plus. Team player Strong verbal and written communication skills including proper email etiquette. Excellent organizational and leadership skills and attention to detail Good analytical/critical thinking Expert knowledge of health, building, and safety codes Must be well versed in large systems including HVAC, Electrical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Fire / Life Safety, ADA Standards, and Emergency Systems Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and file archive systems Internet research skills Available on an on-call and as-needed basis to ensure the best function of the business, including potential emergencies and high-profile events.
