Company Overview Greene County Health Care is a Community Health Center providing comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services for members of our communities in Greene, Pitt and Pamlico counties in eastern North Carolina. Job Summary The Risk Management Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing a program for risk management and compliance at Greene County Health Care (GCHC), in collaboration with other members of the GCHC Management Team. This program includes policy, procedure, and staff development related to patient care and employee safety. The position supports the Chief Operating Officer to ensure compliance with internal initiatives and external regulatory requirements. Identifies potential risks by analyzing data, observing processes, and communications with staff. Drafts and delivers reports and presentations outlining findings, identifying and detailing potential risks, and recommending solutions. Selects, develops and implements appropriate risk assessment models and methodologies. Responsibilities and Duties Provide support to Chief Operating Officer for risk management meetings and presentations. Create and generate routine and requested reports as needed to support risk management activities. Develop, monitor and evaluate the effective implementation of the GCHC Risk and Safety Program. Maintain current knowledge of changes in applicable rules, regulations, standards and related trends that are relevant to the Risk and Safety Program and make necessary modifications to policies and procedures. Assist in the establishment and monitoring of information privacy policies and procedures in coordination with management to ensure HIPAA compliance. Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations to internal management as appropriate, and duly authorized external enforcement agencies as required. Assist and provide guidance to staff with risk management, safety, and compliance projects. Perform and communicate internal safety/compliance audits on a periodic basis. Based on findings, determine training needs of the organization. Collect data to identify opportunities for improvement in GCHC procedures and work with Chief Operating Officer to improve areas identified. Create and maintain risk audit databases. Facilitate a culture of safety in the organization that creates an atmosphere of mutual trust for staff to talk about safety concerns and solutions. Identify and document, report, and monitor adverse events, near misses, and potentially unsafe conditions. Based on findings, determine training needs of the organization. Refine add monitor emergency management and organization’s safety plan. Serve as the point of contact for external community partners (i.e. Fire, County Emergency Management, etc.). Serve as liaison to QI Department for projects and initiatives. Support current incentive, regulatory, and certification requirements (such as Meaningful Use, PCMH and UDS) through documentation, participation in initiatives, and other activities as directed. Conduct Fire Drills and prepare After Action Reports. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor Degree in Healthcare Administration, or related field. Certification in Healthcare Risk Management required to be obtained within 1 year of hire Proficiency with MS Office and experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with employees and leadership. Strong teamwork skills and collaboration with employees at all levels within the organization. High attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong time management and organization skills to ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely. Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records, electronic practice management systems and other digital applications or platforms. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information. Ability to plan, manage and evaluate quality and risk management projects. Ability to create reports, presentations, policies, procedures and staff education. Ability to effectively lead virtual and in-person meetings and workgroups. Powered by JazzHR
