Job Summary: Oversee overall care of pullets including but not limited to: maintenance, operate and maintain manure belts, clean up, vaccinate and record data. Responsible for: overall testing, reporting and scheduling. Responsible for overall pullet site operations in absence of the Pullet Manager. Rotational On call position. Work rotational weekends and on call and may need to work on additional weekends of high work load. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for overall care of birds Monitor computer for all house vitals (water, air, feed) Oversee adjustments of water lines, feed guards and climate controls Responsible for vaccination of pullets-water/spray Responsible for weighing and bleeding birds Operate and maintain manure belts/scrapers Responsible for grinding daily mortality Oversee cleanout procedures for new flocks Oversee bird crew activities Collect, compile and distribute production data Manage and order supply/ parts inventory Unload trucks with wrangler/tractor Oversee housekeeping requirements Pullet site grounds upkeep (mowing) Responsible for preventative and routine maintenance of buildings and equipment Responsible for generator upkeep and operation Order vaccines Submit SE samples Computer data entry Perform House Supervisor responsibilities when necessary Follow all OSHA safety regulations and procedures Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the SQF system. Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring. Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3 rd party audits. Perform other tasks as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required: Awareness and knowledge of surroundings in relation to climate, atmosphere and equipment Husbandry Skills – Maintaining proper feed, water, climate and living conditions in buildings Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions Attention to detail Ability to operate grounds keeping equipment Required to live within 15 minutes of pullet site Mechanical, electrical, metal working and plumbing knowledge Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking so others will understand Hand/Eye/Foot Coordination On call duties to include nights and weekends Answer Alarms Independent Self Starter/Team Player Leadership Skills Mathematical Skills: General Arithmetic/Basic algebra/Percentages/Fractions Advanced English: fluent: fluent in: speaking, reading and writing Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Touch screens Preferred: Fine Motor Skills Ability to ride custom pedal Tri-cycle Computer Skills: Eyedeal Power-washing buildings and equipment Equipment: Hand held radios/Helmets/Hearing protection/Safety glasses/Respirator mask Trucks/Tractor/Bobcat/Custom pedal tri-cycle Hand tools/Power tools/Utility cart/Vaccination carts/Bird racks Large push broom, kitchen pull broom/Squeegee, floor mop/High pressure wand Universal Expectations: Follow all Bio-Security Procedures Ensure that all care is provided with respect to customer, client and co-0workers’ rights Ensure a safe and clean work environment Maintain confidentiality Humane Treatment of Birds at all times Adhere to work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks A trained designee will be appointed by plant management to cover for absences or vacancies.
