OPERATIONS MANAGER: About Estes Industries Estes Industries has built, and our customers have flown, over 500 million small solid-propellant rocket motors over the past sixty years. Estes serves a broad range of customers in the education, hobby, industrial, defense, and government markets. Located in Penrose, Colorado, Estes offers great employee benefits and competitive wages. We currently have an opening for an experienced Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will m anage purchasing, production, warehouse, and shipping operations and is responsible for ensuring the safe, successful delivery of product to customers worldwide. Specific duties include: Lead, motivate, and support a team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including setup and implementation of development plans for all direct reports and problem resolution Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization’s internal capacity Ensure operational activities remain on time and within a defined budget Track staffing requirements, hiring new employees as needed Manage timely data collection to update operations metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service Ensure the manufacturing production schedules meet customer requirements Oversee materials and inventory management Ensure cycle count program is running in a satisfactory manner Ensure warehouse operations are aligned to customer expectations and an environment for continuous improvement is in place Continuously improve on Fulfillment Center operations and systems Ensure purchasing and manufacturing department’s Master Production Schedule is being leveraged to its maximum capacity Review purchase orders and planning systems to ensure product is available at the right time, quantity, and price Continue to drive strategic sourcing on critical components in the manufacturing process Work closely with OEM factory to ensure purchase orders are being filled in a timely manner Ensure that material supply items sourced domestically for the OEM factory are flowing to them in a timely manner Contribute to the new product development process for buy and make items Actively engage in the ERP system for costing and material planning Partner with cross-functional support teams in improving tools and systems Foster an environment where safety and quality are held in the highest regard Competencies Proven experience working with ERP systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities. Comfort giving presentations to peers and executives. Strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Required Education and Experience 10+ years of proven working experience in manufacturing and operations Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the position. Preferred Education and Experience Understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash-flow management Experience in product costing for consumer products Additional Eligibility Qualifications Excellent active listening and skills Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy and expert-level written and verbal communication skills. Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be independently effective. Job Location: In person , Penrose, CO. This position is not eligible for remote work. Salary: $90,000 – 125,000, depending on experience, with bonus eligibility up to 10% Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the US.
